I recently made a logo for my friend Laura's copywriting business: De Taalbrouwerij (The langage brewery).
Here are a few choice images from the designing process. Not depicted: the 20+ colorvariations that were produced. We started from orange and went full circle, back to a slightly different ‘copper’ color. Funny how that goes :D
For me, the process roughly breaks down into these parts (but you can’t help some overlap and occasionally having to take a step back):
Talking over concepts (“the language brewery”) - sketching ideas - finding a balance between icon shape & font - trying out icon shapes - trying out coloring styles - looking up fonts - color variations
I rarely take on design work in my spare time, this was more of a favor and an excercise at a moment when I wasn’t being creative in my drawing. Maybe I’d do design if I wasn’t making websites full-time but given a choice, I’d rather be drawing and inking.
