Second mod: replaced the screen in the GBA with an LCD + put a new shell on it. For comparison, there’s a GBA SP with a frontlight (which I boosted), one with a backlight and of course the unlit ‘normal’ GBA. The new LCD is much brighter, has more contrast and more saturation of the colors.
