The Proton hurdles: because privacy and encryption come first, it’s almost entirely locked down. Meaning, you can’t realistically use their Calendar if you share events with folks not in the ecosystem. You can’t use their Contacts system on your phone, because it can’t interface with any contact app & they don’t have a dedicated mobile app. Sure, their software is open-source but there’s very few people who build community apps for Proton. Eg. there’s 1 guy who built a limited Android sync app.
